I'm a Hugger
I'm a big hugger; always have been. An affectionate person in general, I show my love with hugs, kisses, words of endearment, pats on the head, etc. Physical Touch. That's my Love Language. I give and receive love this way... and my cup runneth over.
SO recently my boyfriend and I broke up. Besides just the sadness of losing the one I love, I lost my built in hugs. The "I love you" hug. The "it's going to be okay" hug. The "I'm so proud of you" hug. The "I'm so glad you're here" hug. The "standing-in line at the movie" hug. The "thank you for making dinner" hug. The "let's cuddle on the couch and watch a movie" hug. And last, but not least, the "I'm so happy to be with you" hug. I'm now hug-less.
I wish I had family or friends that I lived with; I could use them to substitute those hugs and pretend it doesn't matter. But alas I live alone, and my old teddy bear just doesn't cut it.This leaves me to rely on an invisible touch to feel the love I need in my life right now; and that's hard for a Physical Touch girl to do. I heard today that when we pray for something, like courage, God doesn't just give it to us, but rather creates an opportunity so we can develop it. I guess my prayer for my ex-boyfriend and I to understand true love created a situation I wasn't necessarily looking for; however, God can even use pain to help us understand. So instead of taking temporary comfort in the arms of a friend, family member or lover, I have to understand that there is a Love that is greater, deeper, and stronger than just human arms that can surround me. And while it may take some pain for me to accept this fact, I know this Love will never let go
